Several years ago a friend of a friend was stereotyping a group of girls that walked by and commented, "sorority sisters!! bet they all drive little white cars and vacation on 30A, bumper stickers on their cars in case people need a reminder!!"
I nervously snickered, cheeks hot and avoiding eye contact, as I was in a sorority... drove a white Honda Accord... and sported a bright blue 30A sticker on my back right bumper (still there, not as bright). That moment always stuck with me, the idea that some people viewed 30A/Seaside as basic and overrated.
HOWEVER, I still love the whole area and never get tired of the happy shops, restaurants and spots that make 30A so fun... if you've never been, it really is worth the trip.
Last week I got to go with my cell group girls (bible study group through Fellowship Bible Church) to celebrate their high school graduation. We stayed in Seagrove, but spent the most time in Seaside. There is SO much to do/eat/see up and down 30A, but this post is specifically a round up of my Seaside favorites...
I'd actually never been inside the chapel until this trip, was exploring with two of my girls and walked in... we were all three in awe.
Fun to walk around in general, big lawn and amphitheater, surrounded by palm trees and food trucks.
Great Southern Cafe
Fun fact: I spent a summer working at Great Southern. Found this pic from 2012, aggressive use of instagram filter. But really, so good!! Try the grits and sweet potato fries.
A couple doors down from Great Southern, we used to grab cake by the slice after work. The Carmel layered cake is my all time fave.
Raw and Juicy
Health food and juice bar truck. Had a delicious smoothie here... some of the girls also got drinks in coconuts which was fun.
Not a huge snocone person, but these are 💯💯. My friend Kylie is actually opening up the only other Frostbites in Gulf Shores.
Quick line to order fresh seafood... I also love the key lime pie. Eat on the beachside pavilion.
"The place you buy those tees that everyone has." Still very pretty and aesthetically pleasing inside though.
Bookstore on bottom, record store on top, everyone loves Sundog.
Would buy every swimsuit here if my bank account would allow. Court's cute suit is from here.
Cute gift shop where I bought this bomb pop float.
My favorite boutique in Seaside. Western meets beach clothing & accessories.
Open air shop set up market style. Lots of beach clothing and accessories. Grabbed this hat!
Really thankful for this particular 30A trip because of the time I got to spend with my cell girls. There aren't 18 eighteen-year-olds I'd rather hang out with. As they enter the season of life where naivety starts to slip and are experiencing hard things with family, friends and relationships, it is so cool to see them handle life with maturity and grace. The way they love Christ and others challenges me to love more. Watching each girl grow into and embrace her unique self is seriously the coolest. ...and if you watched my snaps you also know how much they love to dance.
